Marcus Larcombe Apex Advice

The best part of what I do is that moment when someone realises work can become a choice, not a life sentence. Seeing their whole body relax when they understand they're closer to freedom than they thought.

I know that many families worry about whether they’re doing enough with their money or if they’ll ever be able to step back from work on their terms. Often, they’ve been getting patchy advice or, like my own parents, have financial structures in place without a clear plan for how it all comes together.

Having helped my parents transform their retirement outlook – clearing debt, restructuring their super, and retiring sooner than they thought possible – I’ve seen firsthand how the right advice can change everything.

What excites me about financial advice is helping people move past the dollars and cents to the more interesting questions: Do you want to stop work completely or just dial back to a few days a week? Could you take three months off each year to travel? These are the conversations that really matter.

Off the clock, you’ll find me playing golf at Geelong Golf Club (currently sitting on a 12.9 handicap – those single figures are calling my name). I’m a massive basketball and footy fan – NBA, NBL, AFL, NFL – you name it, I’ll watch it. I run, swim and gym.

Travel has always been my other passion. From playing basketball in the US during high school to studying behavioural finance in Denmark, I’ve managed to tick off quite a few places on the map – Vietnam, Egypt, Jordan, Zimbabwe, South America, Turkey. But there’s always another adventure around the corner – Mexico and Japan are next in my sights.

On weekends you’ll find me hunting down the best coffee and food spots with my wife, or letting my competitive side loose over a ‘friendly’ game of Catan or Monopoly Deal with friends.

It's not just about the numbers; it's about giving people options and choices about how they want to spend their time.
